Upper-back posture support

Targeted chest opening, thoracic mobility, and upper back strengthening for better posture and shoulder health.

Poor upper back posture (rounded shoulders, tight chest, weak scapular muscles) is extremely common from desk work and phone use. This short routine combines breathing, thoracic mobility, and targeted upper back strengthening.

You will do supine chest expansion breathing, wall rib + thoracic rotation, and Trap 3 raises. The whole session takes about 3 minutes and can be done daily.

When to try this

  • You notice rounded shoulders or a forward head position
  • Your chest feels tight and upper back feels weak
  • You want a quick daily posture reset

If you have existing shoulder or neck issues, consult a professional.

Why this sequence works

  1. Supine chest expansion breathing opens the front of the chest and improves thoracic expansion.
  2. Wall Rib and Thoracic Rotation mobilizes the upper back and ribs against gravity.
  3. Trap 3 raise strengthens the lower trapezius and scapular stabilizers.

2. Wall Rib and Thoracic Rotation

Stand with your back against a wall and feet slightly forward. Extend one arm forward and rotate your torso while keeping contact with the wall. Reach the extended arm forward as you rotate your torso to look behind you, feeling a stretch through the ribs and upper back. Perform the prescribed reps per side.
